This must be one of the most beautiful video productions of several natural wonders such as the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, river deltas and volcanoes.  Subhanallah the wonders which were created.

Many times we go through our daily routines without much thought, even such acts as wudu and prayer.  Once someone passed on a quote, “keep smiling for you never know who may fall in love with it”.  It reminded me that all of our actions count, not just our smile.  Sometimes the smallest of our actions may leave a lasting print on someone we cross paths with.  I will never forget one of my staff: I was required to do a bi-yearly staff evaluation which consisted of sitting in on a few classes and writing up a form and submitting it.  This surely affected her chances of getting a merit raise or other benefits.  However, due to a heavy schedule I was not always able to sit in on the 11 classes with the frequency that I really should have. When it came time to write up the appraisal, I made a few strict comments about her always keeping to herself and not interacting with her peers and a few other classroom management issues.  When she was requested to sign it she turned the form in with stiff replies to all points and the basis was- how could I effectively evaluate her when I had not attended her class more than twice.

In all fairness, she was right.  I had not spent enough time to be able to give her a full evaluation.  Maybe other supervisors would have been upset or felt threatened by such a response from an employee.  However I knew that she was right and was only asking for fair treatment.  In the subsequent portion of the school year, I gained a new respect for the teacher as she put more effort into rectifying her shortfalls.  At the same time, I made more of an effort to appreciate her work and to notice it.  Because of her courage to stand up for what was right, I learned a valuable lesson in dealing with colleagues.  I started to increase my attention of the teachers’ best efforts, and tried to give them support to overcome weak areas.

A few years later I decided to stop working and focus on my family. During that time, this particular teacher sent me a message out of the blue telling me how much she had appreciated working with me and she listed a few things that I had done that had really had a positive affect upon her as a person.  One of them was noticing people and recognizing their value as an individual.  I never thought about that.  It just seemed a normal thing that we should do for each other, yet she was not the only one to mention this point.  Time and again it was said how much I had influenced a person, changed how they looked at things, encouraged them to go past what they thought was their limit, and how I was able to see the lion hiding within the kitten.

I often think back to that message.  It touched me so deeply and made me realize that often its the little things which we do that have an impact on people, hopefully in a positive way.  We may never know or hear of how we touched someone’s life.  Our behavior or actions may be planted as seeds and take a long time to grow, but we know that the seeds are there.  For this reason we should always think how we represent ourselves, as human beings and as Muslims.  Does our behavior coincide with Islamic teachings? Does our hijab or dress present the real teachings or are we tied up in trying to be modern? Are we shy to convey to others what we believe in?

The following video is short but the point is so clear!  What we do– or DON’T do– may have strong effects upon those who come in contact with us.  Let us be aware and try to improve ourselves so that we  can always promote the best knowledge, behaviors and attitudes.

Subhanallah what an amazing video and a great reminder of our final home!  We are living in this life, running after worldly goods, worried about things and problems that really do not deserve our worry and attention .  Let us focus on the hear-after where only our deeds will follow us.  May Allah forgive our sins, strengthen us, guide us to do good and to repent to him before its too late.  Its a reminder that non of us knows when we will die and we go through life thinking that tomorrow will come while we have not prepared ourselves to meet our creator.  Tomorrow might come today.

What I found interesting is that he is making a point which many may not understand— because the Christians to NOT have a unified book which ALL agree upon,, there is no way that they can rewrite from memory if all the bibles were thrown away.  But because there is only ONE version of ARABIC Quran, and thousands have memorized from the first letter to the last, they would be able to rewrite it and have others check and verify its correctness.  This procedure actually still occurs when a new print is made: the raw print is read by scholars to check for typing mistakes, deletions, or additions.  Only once it has been verified can the press go ahead and make the final print out.

Also a Hadith Bukhari: The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Whoever Allah wishes good for, He inflicts him (with hardship).”

The Qur’an is full of many verses which urge us to be patient!

Have you ever wondered why we get so angry at times?  Some of us stew on low steam, others wait until they can no longer keep their feeilngs inside and burt out in a rage.. others are angry all  of the time.  And a few have learned the gift– and yes I believe it is a gift – of being able to control anger.  We all get angry. Anger is a normal emotion and there is nothing intrinsically wrong with anger. It is how we deal or actually do NOT deal with our anger.  Being able to understand ourselves, our threshholds, and how to manage anger is a vital skill which helps us to interact with others on a positive scale.  Below is a great video about anger and how it actually follows other emotions.  If we can learn to control other basic desires and emotions– we will in the end learn to control – and maybe even channel- anger into a useful and positive force in our lives.

So many of us do not have this vital trait in our lives.  We rush around daily trying to manage all of the demands placed upon us, yet we do so in a very rushed and sometimes rude manner.  If we consider all of the verses written in the Holy Quran, we can clearly see that God has placed a very high value and importance upon patience.  Whether we are dealing with a lazy, demanding or incompetent boss, annoying coworker, frustrating relative or impudent children, we must make the effort to handle each situation with patience, gratitude and tolerance.  Many times I wonder why a person is being rude, cold or demanding and I eventually find out I cannot comprehend what his or her day has been like; the personal problems they may be dealing with on top of heavy work load or horrible upper management.  Patience and gratitude surely work hand in hand for we should feel gratitude for our situation and know that no matter how bad it may seem, we are better off than many others in this world.

During this troublesome time of misinformation, fear, misconceptions, intolerance on many sides, it is rare and beautiful to find such eloquence in the realm social dialogue.  I hope and pray that this video finds its way into all homes, and that viewers can comprehend this woman’s wisdom, clarity, humility, and true religious spirit.  May God Almighty open hearts and guide all of us to patience, tolerance, understanding among all members of the human race.

THE RELIGION OF ISLAM

The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word “Islam” itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of “Allah” and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah’s “God’s” religion; the total submission to the will of Allah “God”. The Arabic word “Islam” means the submission or surrender of one’s will to the only true god worthy of worship “Allah” and anyone who does so is termed a “Muslim”, The word also implies “peace” which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah. Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) I in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of Allah re-expressed in its final form.

Islam is the religion which was given to Adam, the first man and the first prophet of Allah, and it was the religion of all the prophets sent by Allah to mankind. The name of God’s religion lslam was not decided upon by later generations of man. It was chosen by Allah Himself and clearly mentioned in His final revelation to man. In the final book of divine revelation, the Qur’aan, Allah states the following:

“This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion”. (Soorah Al-Maa’idah 5:3)
“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah (God) never will It be accepted of Him” (Soorah Aal’imraan 3:85)
“Abraham was not a Jew nor Christian; but an upright Muslim.” (Soorah Aal’imraan 3:67)
Nowhere in the Bible will you find Allah saying to Prophet Moses’ people or their descendants that their religion is Judaism, nor to the followers of Christ that their religion is Christianity. In fact, Christ was not even his name, nor was it Jesus! The name “Christ” comes from the Greek word Christos which means the annointed. That is, Christ is a Greek translation of the Hebrew title “Messiah”. The name “Jesus” on the other hand, is a latinized version of the Hebrew name Esau.

For simplicity’s sake, I will however continue to refer to Prophet Esau (PBUH) as Jesus. As for his religion, it was what he called his followers to. Like the prophets before him, he called the people to surrender their will to the will of Allah; (which is Islam) and he warned them to stay away from the false gods of human imagination.

According to the New Testament, he taught his followers to pray as follows: “Yours will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”.

This  is the beautiful recitation of a ten year old girl, Bara’a who’s mother died after severe cancer spread through her body.  On the day she was severely ill, the hospital called the father to come urgently.  Leaving his daughter in the car, he started to cross the road when he was hit by a passing car.  Left an orphan, Bara’a did not loose hope in the grace of Allah, God almighty.  As her parents taught her when she was younger to memorize the Holy Qur’an, here she is reciting about Prophet Ibrahim who was requested by God to sacrifice his son.

Subsequently, Bara’a also is suffering from cancer which has spread quickly though her body.  Until now her character  shows acceptance of God’s will in her life.  She is an example for all of us.  May Allah grant her mercy.

Br. Green explains how he came to Islam and his views about this religion as a logical religion and how difficult it is when someone knows what is right but not allowing oneself to accept it.

ONE OF THE MOST WONDERFUL AND AMAZING THINGS THAT VERIFIES THE PURITY AND GODLY ORIGIN OF THE QURAN, ARE THE SCIENTIFIC PROOFS THAT WERE TOTALLY UNKNOWN WHEN THE QURAN WAS WRITTEN, YET ARE PERFECTLY SPELLED OUT WITHIN THE QURAN.  ONLY GOD ALMIGHTY COULD HAVE GIVEN THIS INFORMATION AT THE TIME THE QURAN WAS REVEALED.

KEEP IN MIND THAT THE QURAN IS ONLY IN ARABIC FORM AND TRANSLATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED AS QURAN RATHER MERELY TRANSLATIONS OF THE MEANINGS.  THE ORIGINAL QURAN IS THE SAME AS THOSE THAT ARE PRINTED TODAY AS THERE ARE FOUR ‘ANCHIENT’ QURANS STILL AVAILABLE IN THE WORLD TODAY.

Islam is the fastest growing religion with not only people converting after careful study, but many born Muslims are also having a rebirth of faith.  According to NBC research, approximately 20,000 convert to Islam yearly, and women 4x more frequently then men.*  It seems to me that if Islam was so oppressive to women, then they would not convert in such high numbers after studying it so well.  Men are also converting in increasing numbers when they study about islam and find out what the religion versus tradition really teaches.  Many are in fact suprised when they read the Quran for the first time, expecting it to be a strange book talking about unknown or bizzar religious practices.  Instead what they find is a book which confirms and extends the teachings which were given to Abraham, Moses and Jesus.
