King James Bible
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
10Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Tying a string over which verses of Quraan have been recited?
It is not permissible to tie this string or any other kind of amulets. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever hangs up an amulet, may Allaah not fulfil his need.”
And he said: “Whoever hangs up anything will be abandoned to its care,” and, “Whoever hangs up an amulet has committed shirk.”
This also includes hanging surahs from the Quran, especially Ayat ul Kursi with the intention that it will protect the home from evil. Also hanging such just for a means of decoration is makruh. If one delights to hang such things in the home it should be with the intention to read it, or as a reminder to read it. (s&s)
[Musnad Ahmad. This Hadeeth was classed as Saheeh by Shaikh al-Albanee in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, (492)]
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded us to tear away these things, as stated in the hadeeth narrated from Imraan ibn Husayn, which says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw a man on whose hand was a bracelet of brass. He said, “What is this bracelet?” He said, “It is to prevent weakness.” He said, “Take it off, for it will only make you more weak.”This was narrated by Ibn Maajah
The evil eye is real as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us, and the way to protect oneself against it is by reciting the ruqyahs that are prescribed in shareeah and by reciting the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), not by using amulets or by using the charms written by liars and charlatans.
Ahmad (17440) also narrated that Uqbah ibn Aamir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Whoever wears an amulet, may Allaah never fulfil his wish and whoever wears a seashell, may Allaah never protect him from what he fears.” This hadeeth was classed as hasan by al-Arna’oot in his commentary on al-Musnad.
In a store today, a little old lady with a big shopping cart was making her wait through a very narrow aisle, so I stepped aside as she walked by. Instead, she stopped dead in her tracks..
Little Old Lady (staring at me up and down and very amused): Oh! Hello there!
Me (caught off guard): Um, hello.
Little Old Lady: Where are you from!
Me:Um, here.
Little Old Lady: Oh wow, and you dress like that? (referring to my niqaab ensemble). Is that your custom?
Me: It’s part of my religion, I’m a Muslim.
Little Old Lady: Oh, how sweet. Do you beleive in Jesus?
Me: Yes, I do. I beleive he’s a Prophet of God.
Little Old Lady: Oh yes, and he’s our savior.
Me: Well…God ismysavior.
It is not permissible to ask Allaah by the virtue of anyone, not even by the virtue of the Prophets or Messengers or awliyaa or righteous people and NOT even by virtue of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh).
No one can compel Allaah to do anything. It is NOT permissible to ask Him in any way except by His Names and Attributes, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allaah, so call on Him by them”
[al-A’raaf 7:180].
With regard to saying to the occupant of a grave, “O So and so, help me,” this is obviously shirk, because it is a supplication to someone other than Allaah.
Asking by the virtue of someone is a means to shirk, and calling upon a created being is shirk in worship.
And Allaah knows best.
(islam-qa)
These behaviors are dangerous and relying upon anyone other than Allah swt is innovation. Many people give the misnomer of Mohammedians to Muslims with the idea that we worship the Prophet, pbuh. However the Quran is full of comands from Allah to not worship any one except HIM and that no one is of any avail except HIM.
Worship none but Allah. I fear for you the punishment of a painful day.’ (Qur’an, 11:26)
Say: ‘Do you worship, besides Allah, something which has no power to harm or help you when Allah is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing?’ (Qur’an, 5:76)
So do not call on any other god along with Allah or you will be among those who will be punished. (Qur’an, 26:213) Read the rest of this entry »
