Muslim Terrorists? Differentiate Between Acts of People and Islam

March 30, 2010

NOT IN THE NAME OF MY RELIGION !!!

by Asma bint Shameem

Once again the news of “Muslim Terrorists” hits the headlines…

Once again “Muslims” perpetrate acts of violence and terror in the name of Islam…

Once again, they bring a bad… bad name to this beautiful, perfect religion of mine.

Subhaan Allaah!

This religion of Islam is a perfect religion.
It is a peaceful religion.
It is a JUST religion.

It CONDEMNS violence….
It CONDEMNS extremism…
It CONDEMNS terrorism.
In fact, extremism, violence, and terrorism have no connection whatsoever with Islam.

Yet, people, bearing names, similar to mine, act violently…hurt people…terrorize and intimidate…thinking they are acting in accordance with Islam….whether it be 9/11, or the bombing in Spain or London, or any time perpetration against humanity is carried out in the name of Islam. These people do NOTHING, BUT A DISSERVICE to this great religion of mine…this perfect way of life.

DON’T THEY KNOW that Islam is the religion of peace; it teaches us to RESPECT lives???

“Nor take life – which Allaah has made sacred – except for just cause…”[Surah Israa':33]

Had they studied the Shareeah, they would have discovered that it vehemently condemns all sorts of extremism, acts of violence or aggression against others without a just cause.

“… If anyone killed a person, except in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land – it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind…”(Surah Maidah: 32)

DON’T THEY KNOW that it is a form of spreading mischief (fasaad) in the land which Allaah has strictly prohibited people from committing???

Out of the Mouths of Babes: Bara’ah reciting the Holy Quran

March 30, 2010

This  is the beautiful recitation of a ten year old girl, Bara’a who’s mother died after severe cancer spread through her body.  On the day she was severely ill, the hospital called the father to come urgently.  Leaving his daughter in the car, he started to cross the road when he was hit by a passing car.  Left an orphan, Bara’a did not loose hope in the grace of Allah, God almighty.  As her parents taught her when she was younger to memorize the Holy Qur’an, here she is reciting about Prophet Ibrahim who was requested by God to sacrifice his son.

Subsequently, Bara’a also is suffering from cancer which has spread quickly though her body.  Until now her character  shows acceptance of God’s will in her life.  She is an example for all of us.  May Allah grant her mercy.

How Men Should Treat Their Wives

March 30, 2010

Live With Women Honorably

Allaah said,

(And live with them honorably), by saying kind words to them, treating them kindly and making your appearance appealing for them, as much as you can, just as you like the same from them.

Allaah said in another Aayah,

(And they have rights similar over them to what is reasonable) [2:228].

The Messenger of Allaah said,

«خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِهِ، وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِي»

(The best among you is he who is the best with his family. Verily, I am the best one among you with my family.) It was the practice of the Messenger of Allah to be kind, cheerful, playful with his wives, compassionate, spending on them and laughing with them. The Messenger used to race with `A’ishah, the Mother of the Faithful, as a means of kindness to her. `A’ishah said, “The Messenger of Allah raced with me and I won the race. This occurred before I gained weight, and afterwards I raced with him again, and he won that race. He said,

«هذِهِ بِتِلْك»

(This [victory ] is for that [victory].)”

When the Prophet was at the home of one of his wives, sometimes all of his wives would meet there and eat together, and they would then go back to their homes. He and his wife would sleep in the same bed, he would remove his upper garment, sleeping in only his lower garment. The Prophet used to talk to the wife whose night it was, after praying `Isha’ and before he went to sleep.

Allah said,

(Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow) [33:21].

Allah said,

(If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allah brings through it a great deal of good.) Allah says that your patience, which is demonstrated by keeping wives whom you dislike, carries good rewards for you in this life and the Hereafter. Ibn `Abbas commented on this Ayah, “That the husband may feel compassion towards his wife and Allah gives him a child with her, and this child carries tremendous goodness.”

An authentic Hadith states,

«لَا يَفْرَكْ مُؤْمِنٌ مُؤْمِنَةً، إِنْ سَخِطَ مِنْهَا خُلُقًا، رَضِيَ مِنْهَا آخَر»

(No believing man should hate his believing wife. If he dislikes a part of her conduct, he would surely like another.)

Are Teachers Making the Grade with ADHD Students?

March 6, 2010

In an effort to find out how teachers are able to cope with ADHD students, a survey was created with SurveyMonkey to help gather information from both parents and teachers.  If you are either a parent of an ADHD child, or a the student or a teacher of ADHD children, please take the time (aprox. 2 minutes) to fill out this form.  Results will be used in an upcoming article addressing problems faced by students – and teachers- in the classrooms.

The main thrust of this poll is to find out if teachers feel prepared when they graduate from teacher prep courses to handle the demands placed upon them especially in relation to ADHD students.  Please feel free to leave any comments either here or on the poll itself in the blocks provided.

The poll can be found at:    http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3XKRHLJ
