Following what Allah has asked of us can sometimes be the test… and mashallah the fact that you chose hijab over other easier issues is indeed a testament to your level of faith and I appreciate you sharing that with us. Yes submission to God is not always an easy road but its the result that will count in our favor inshallah. many women wear hijab out of love for God and His commandments, and hijab is a covering of what is precious.

Mohammed Ali told his daughters, that all precisous things are protected and covered: the diamond is found deep in the earth inside of rocks, as is gold. We should see ourselves as precious women, not sexual objects. I wish you the best and may Allah swt continue to bless your efforts and give you strength.

Wearing a hijab in a western country especially if you live somewhere where there arent many or any muslims is difficult. Allah swt is all merciful and all knowing. If the sister has serious hesitations to wear it not because she doesnt want to but because she fears for her safety, I trust in Allah swt that he will show his mercy upon her. I had to move when I started. I live in a very small town with lots of “red necks” I was attacked TWICE because of it. So I was forced to leave. I have been fired from two jobs because of hijab. Unfortunately it was their words against mine so I could not fight the termination. I was jobless for 13 months, I had to go live with different relatives until I found a job again. It is very difficult to make the choice in a western country because your safety and livelihood is at stake if you dont live somewhere where people are open minded.

Thanks for your comment, Allah swt gives us free will and choice to make our mistakes and choices and that is why we are questioned later. Yes we should put hijab because Allah asked us to. And we obtain salam or peace by submitting to the will of Allah. So if we put hijab we will be in peace with out fitra also. :)

In my personal opinion, hijab is not a choice. A choice means that you can always decide to wear it or not to wear it. For me, hijab is a way of life. The Islam way of life. Once you make up your mind to wear it, you must keep it for good. And sister, we don’t live forever. We don’t want to be sorry when we are already in our grave, do we? Wallahua’lam…

Did you continue to wear it even after your study?
I plan on wearing mine but i have reservations. I can handle the stares and even comments here and there. What I couldnt handle is the possible repercussions in terms of my employment as a teacher. I have not finished grad school yet, but will soon and I am afraid that I will have trouble being hired if I am wearing the hijab. What do you think? I hope you see this and contact me I would really appreciate it.
