MOM: Mean old mother

March 31, 2009

 Poem to Mom

‘Guess what I learned in Civics Two,
that’s taught by Mr. Wright?
It’s all about the laws today,
The ‘Children’s Bill of Rights.’

My son  came home from school one day,
With a smirk upon his face.
He decided he was smart enough,
To put me in my place.

It says I need not clean my room,
Don’t have to cut my hair
No one can tell me what to think,
Or speak, or what to wear.

I have freedom from religion,
And regardless what you say,
I don’t have to bow my head,
And I sure don’t have to pray.

I can wear earrings if I want,
And pierce my tongue & nose.
I can read & watch just what I like,
Get tattoos from head to toe.

And if you ever spank me,
I’ll charge you with a crime.
I’ll back up all my charges,
With the marks on my behind.

Don’t you ever touch me,
My body’s only for my use,
Not for your hugs and kisses,
that’s just more child abuse..

THE MEANEST MOTHER IN THE WORLD

March 31, 2009

Mean Moms

Someday when my children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates a parent,
I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me:
I loved you enough to ask where you were going,
with whom, and what time you would be home.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you
discover that your new best friend was a creep.

I loved you enough to stand over you for
two hours while you cleaned your room,
a job that should have taken 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to let you see anger,
disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children
must learn that their parents aren’t perfect..

I loved you enough to let you assume the
responsibility for your actions even when the
penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.

A VERY HANDSOME MAN (not true Hadeeth)

March 28, 2009

There is no daleel for this particular hadith.
Inshallah support for other similar hadith which discuss the benefit of reading Quran will be posted shortly.

although this hadith may sound beautiful its basis is not proven and is fabricated.

Rasulullah  (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) said: ‘When a man dies and his  relatives are busy in funeral, there stands an extremely handsome  man by his head. When the dead body is shrouded, that man gets in  between the shroud and the chest of the deceased.

When  after the burial, the people return home, 2 angels, Munkar and  Nakeer(names of two special Angels), come in the grave and try to  separate this handsome man so that they may be able to interrogate  the dead man in privacy about his faith. But the handsome man says,  ’He is my companion, he is my friend. I will not  leave him  alone in any case. If you are appointed for interrogation, do your  job. I cannot leave him until I get him admitted into Paradise ‘.

Thereafter  he turns to his dead companion and says, ‘I am the Qur’an, which you  used to read, sometimes in a loud voice and sometimes in a low  voice. Do not worry. After the interrogation of Munkar and Naker,  you will have no grief.’

When  the interrogation is over, the handsome man arranges for him from  Al-Mala’ul A’laa (the angels in Heaven) silk bedding filled with  musk.

Rasulullah  (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) said: ‘On the Day of Judgement, before  Allah, no other Intercessor will have a greater status than the  Qur’an, neither a Prophet nor an angel.’

Thanks to a contributing commentor the proper information is given below:  may Allah swt bless the efforts of this believer.

“A VERY HANDSOME MAN ( Is a fake Hadeeth )”

Question: How sound is this hadeeth?
“When a person dies, whilst his relatives are busy with his funeral rites, a very handsome man stands at the head of the deceased and when the body is shrouded, that man comes in between the shroud and chest of the deceased, and after the burial, the people go back to their homes and the two angels Munkar and Nakeer come to the grave and they try to separate this handsome man from the deceased so that they will be able to question the deceased about his faith. But the good-looking man says: ‘He is my friend, he is my friend, and I will never leave him without intervening under any circumstances. If you are appointed to question him, then do as you are commanded, but as for me, I can never leave him until I admit him to Paradise.’ Then the handsome man turns to the deceased and says to him: ‘I am the Qur’aan that you used to recite in a loud voice sometimes and in a low voice sometimes. Do not worry. After the questioning of Munkar and Nakeer, there will be no sorrow after this day.’ When the questioning ends, the handsome man and the angels prepare a bed of silk filled with musk for the deceased in Paradise.”.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

What is narrated in the saheeh Sunnah about one’s good deeds taking a physical form and appearing in the form of a handsome man in the grave, including the deed of reciting the Holy Qur’aan, is as follows:

1-It was narrated from al-Bara’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“When the believing slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with white faces like the sun, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. They bring with them shrouds from Paradise and perfumes from Paradise…” until he said, describing the state of the believer in the grave:

“Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘My slave has spoken the truth, so prepare for him a bed from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a gate to Paradise.’ Then there comes to him some of its fragrance, and his grave is made wide, as far as he can see. Then there comes to him a man with a handsome face and handsome clothes, and a good fragrance, who says, ‘Receive the glad tidings that will bring you joy this day.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.’ He says, ‘I am your righteous deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’”

Narrated by Ahmad (4/362); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Ahkaam al-Janaa’iz (156).

2-It was narrated that Buraydah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say:

“The Qur’aan will meet its companion on the Day of Resurrection when his grave is opened for him, in the form of a pale man. It will say to him, ‘Do you recognize me?’ He will say: ‘I do not recognize you.’ It will say: ‘I am your companion the Qur’aan, who kept you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant benefits from his business and today you will benefit from your good deeds.’ He will be given dominion in his right hand and eternity in his left, and there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, and his parents will be clothed with priceless garments the like of which have never been seen in this world. They will say: ‘Why have we been clothed with this?’ It will be said: ‘Because your son used to recite Qur’aan.’ Then it will be said to him: ‘Recite and ascend in the degrees of Paradise,’ and he will continue to ascend so long as he recites, either at a fast pace or a slow pace .”

Narrated by Ahmad in al-Musnad (394) and Ibn Maajah in al-Sunan (3781); classed as hasan by al-Busayri in al-Zawaa’id and by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (2829).

Al-Suyooti said in his commentary on the hadeeth (2/1242):

“In the form of a pale man”. Al-Suyooti said: This is the one whose colour has changed. It is as if he comes in this form so as to resemble his companion in this world, or to draw attention to the fact that just as his colour changed in this world because of staying up at night to read Qur’aan, the Qur’aan will appear in a similar form because of its striving on the Day of Resurrection until its companion attains the ultimate goal in the Hereafter. End quote.

I have not found anything in the saheeh Sunnah to suggest that a man’s righteous deeds will appear in the form of a man in the grave except in these two hadeeths.

As for the hadeeth which you quoted, it is not narrated in any of the reliable books of Sunnah, and we have not found it with any isnaad, saheeh (sound) or da’eef (weak). Rather it is something that appears in some chat rooms or on some sites with no proof. Perhaps some ignorant person wrote it himself then attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), to encourage the people to respect the Qur’aan and pay attention to it, but these people do not know that telling lies about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is one of the worst of sins that doom a person to the Fire of Hell, and the good intention does not remove the burden of sin for those who tell lies and fabricate ahaadeeth as if the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Telling lies about me is not like telling lies about anyone else. Whoever tells a lie about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1291) and Muslim (4).

And Allaah knows best.

LOST YOUR JOB? DO NOT LOSE HOPE!

March 28, 2009

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

Lost your Job ?? Do not Lose Hope !!
by Asma bint Shameem
As world markets suffer from the ongoing global financial crisis and housing markets slump, as jobs are lost and unemployment rates rise high, as businesses close down and people dont have a source of income, you worry.
You worry about the growing global recession and its challenges. And you worry about your family, your kids, how to provide for them, how to put food on the table, how to pay the bills….
In times such as these, this is a reminder for my brothers and sisters, as the reminder always benefits the believers.
But remind, the Reminder will benefit the believers.”
(Surah adh-Dhaariyaat: 55)
KEEP YOUR IMAAN STRONG
1. Remember …. nothing happens except by the will and decree of Allaah:
Belief in al-qadar (the Divine decree) is one of the pillars of our Imaan, and no ones faith is complete without it. So if you lost your job, it was by the Will and Decree of Allaah. Allaah says:
No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (al-Lawh al-Mahfooz) before We bring it into existence. Verily, that is easy for Allaah” (al-Hadeed:22)

Also the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) said: “Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you, and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship.” (Tirmidhi-Saheeh)

BEAUTY TIPS

March 26, 2009

Beauty Tips for Muslim sisters….
——————————————————————————–
My dear sisters in Islam,

Please take a look at this advice, so that you can stay attractive and beautiful for the rest of your life.

1- To beautify your eyes, lower your gaze towards strange men; this will make your eyes pure and shiny.

2- To beautify your face and make it shiny, keep doing wudu minimum five times a day

3- To have attractive lips, always mention Allah and remember to speak the truth.

4- As for blush and rouge, “Modesty” (Haya) is one of the best brands and it can be found in any of the Islamic centers.

5- To remove impurities from your face and body, use a soap called “Astaghfaar” (seeking forgiveness of Allah) this soap will remove many bad deeds.

6- Now about your hair, if any of you has a problem of  split ends, then I suggest “Islamic Hijab” which will protect your hair from damage.

7- As for jewelry, beautify your hands with humbleness and let your hands be generous and give charity to the poor

8- To avoid heart disease, forgive people who hurt your feelings.

9- Your necklace should be a sign to pardon your fellow brothers and sisters.

If you follow these advices given to you by the Creator, you will have a beautiful and attractive inner and outer appearance.

Abu Mas’ud ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amr al-Ansari al-Badri, radiyallahu ‘anhu, reported that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, said:

“Among the things that people have found from the words of the previous prophets was: ‘If you feel no shame, then do as you wish.’”

May Allah help us all, and show us the  right path…Ameen….

WHAT PRIORITY DOES PRAYER HAVE IN YOUR LIFE?

March 20, 2009

Do Not Delay Prayers or Rush to Get it Over With

by Asma bint Shameem

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar!

The sound of the adhaan echoed throughout the neighborhood.

“Oh, its Asr already ?!” She absentmindedly thought in her head as she flipped channels with the remote. “I ‘ll pray as soon as this show is over,” she mumbled to herself, as she settled down to watch her favorite TV program. And before she knew it, it was another show and then yet another, when all of a sudden, she realized how late it was…..the light outside had turned yellowish orange…..the birds were chirping loudly…. …the sun was almost about to set.

She hurriedly got up, made wudu and did 4 quick rakahs of Asr as fast as she could, so that she could ‘get it over with‘.

Subhaan Allaah, how many of us are guilty of something like that ?

Okay, may be its not television for all of us. For some of us, its cooking and cleaning, ‘busy’ with the kids. And for some its video games and playstations; while for others it’s talking on the phone, chatting on the internet, shopping, sleeping, you name it. Or it may be for just no reason at all.

We delay our prayer …. and delay our prayer until the time for it is almost over and then we quickly peck the floor with our heads, thinking we are absolved of the obligation. In other words, we ‘just get it over with’.

But, Brothers and sisters, do you realize what the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) called such a prayer? He called it the ‘prayer of the hypocrite’!

Anas ibn Maalik said, “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) say, ‘That is the prayer of the hypocrites, that is the prayer of the hypocrites, that is the prayer of the hypocrites. One of them will sit until the sun turns yellow, and is between the horns of the Shaytaan, or on the horns of the Shaytaan, then he will get up and peck out four (rakahs), in which he does not remember Allaah except a little.’” (Abu Dawood).

EXERCIZE FOR KIDS: GET MOVING!

March 19, 2009

WHAT IS EXERCISE?
Talk with childre
n about exercise. Explain that it is activity that requires the use of the body’s muscles. Help children understand that regular exercise can keep the body healthy and fit. Show pictures of people exercising in different ways.

Point out that before exercising, people should always “warm up” their muscles so that they don’t injure them. Show children various warm-ups — running slowly, reaching up with arms, bending over to touch floor.

Illustrate the importance of warming up, by showing children cooked and uncooked spaghetti. Ask: If the spaghetti is muscles, which would bend easily? Which would break easily? Share that by warming up before exercise, we stretch out our muscles so they can bend and move easily. This makes them like the “warmed up” (cooked) spaghetti. If we don’t warm up, our muscles are stiff and could break easily (like the uncooked spaghetti).

For additional tips and guidelines, see “How To Do Warm-Up Exercises” in the On the Web section below.

HULA HOOPLA
You can use this timeless piece of equipment to get your kids moving… and having fun.
— Spread out different colored hula hoops on the ground in any arrangement. Invite children to walk, run, or hop around without touching any of the hoops.
— As children move around the hoops, call out instructions such as: put one foot in a green hoop; put two hands in a red hoop; and so on.
— Play music as children move around. Stop the music to give a direction such as “Two children get in a yellow hoop” or “1 person get in a red hoop.”

TENNIS ANYONE?
Create rackets for each child by hot gluing a paper plate onto a wooden paint-stirrer (stick). Next blow up colorful balloons. Have children sit on the floor and try to keep balloons in the air by paddling them. Or ask pairs of children to paddle a balloon back and forth to one another. How long can they keep it going?

MOVE TO IT!
— Use rhythm sticks to tap out a slow beat and ask children to move to it. Then tap out a fast beat and let children move. Continue giving children a chance to “feel the beat” and get a good workout.

WHO’S ASLEEP?
In a large open area, invite children to spread out and lie on the floor. Then recite this little verse:

Watch the little children as they sleep.
When they wake up they’ll all be sheep! (or dogs, horses, so on)

Children should then hop up and move around pretending to be sheep (or other animal). Blow a whistle to signify it is time to “sleep” again and repeat the activity naming another kind of animal. Begin and end this activity with the rhyming sheep verse above.
